After Daler Mehndi and Mika it's
now Harjeet's turn to woo the crowds. To the people of the Bay Area,
he is only too well know. He doesn't live in anyone's shadow and has
created his own identity through his music in Canada, the US and India.
Harjeet began singing at the
age of 8. Initiated into music by his father, he received tabla training
from Professor Ranjit Singh and learnt classical music under the patronage
of Ustad Rahat Ali. To Harjeet, his greatest influence and inspiration
has been his elder brother Daler Mehndi. Harjeet has had
the oppoutunity of performing with many a great singers like Anup Jalota,
Mehndi Hassan, Ghulam Ali and of course with his famous brothers. Harjeet's
debut album titled 'PARO' is already under production and will hit music
lovers in 2002. But if you are in the Bay Area, you don't have to wait
till next year to see this dynamic performer take the stag, you can
watch him and sing to his tunes at the Festival of India and Parade
on 11th and 12th August, 2001 in Fremont, CA.
